What Marvel is going to do with Kang has been a question that has been hanging in the air for a significant portion of the past year already. To begin, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which was supposed to be the uber-villain from the Multiverse Saga’s large-scale introduction to the globe, did not do as well as it had anticipated. Then, in December, after several months had passed since the claims were brought against him, the actor Jonathan Majors was found guilty of assault, and the studio made the decision to terminate his employment. In light of everything that has transpired, it has been reported that Marvel Studios is in the process of reworking its plans for the future. These plans had initially envisioned the next Avengers film being titled The Kang Dynasty.
It has been reported by The Hollywood Reporter that Marvel is reportedly going to delete the name The Kang Dynasty for the upcoming Avengers 5 film. This decision is supposed to be a consequence of both Majors’ departure from the character and the lackluster response to Quantumania. The film was formerly directed by Shang-Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton, but he has since departed the project. Additionally, the original writer, Jeff Loveness, who also wrote Quantumania, left the production and was replaced by Michael Waldron. Now, Michael Waldron is the director of the film. At this time, there has been no official announcement on the director of the film. It is currently scheduled for the first of May in 2026, but it would not be remarkable if that date were to alter as well.
When it comes to Marvel’s larger plan, it is not obvious which route the company will proceed in next. Previous reports have suggested that Galactus might take up the role of the villain, while Avengers 6 is still in the process of being produced as Secret Wars. For the time being, all attention is being directed toward Deadpool and Wolverine, which will be released this summer, The Fantastic Four, which has just been cast, and X-Men 1997, which will include the animated return of the mutants.
